It’s true that there are tons of coins out there that may mean a lot more than just being spare change in your back pocket. It’s easy to miss out on these special coins because they often get mixed in with the rest. It’s important to keep your eye out for these different, meaningful coins because their vintage details might just fill your wallet up faster with actual dollar bills!

1. 1894-S Barber Dime
Apparently, only nine 1894-S Barber Dimes are said to exist in the world. This makes them so rare that they go for millions of dollars. A coin collector paid $2 million for this coin in 2016!
2. 1955 Double Die Penny
This blurry coin was made in 1955 when a few thousand double died pennies were released. This happened after an alignment issue during the minting process, which resulted in double words. It could be worth $1,800 if in decent condition.
3. 2007 “Godless” Presidential Coin
The George Washington dollar coins were accidentally minted View Postwithout the usual coin motto “In God We Trust” and it’s now worth some serious dough.
George Washington Godless dollars in average uncirculated condition are worth $50 or so. But pieces in top condition are worth hundreds, even thousands of dollars. For example, George Washington Godless dollars graded Mint State-68 are worth $2,000 or more!
4. 1804 Draped Bust Silver Dollar – Class I
This 19th-century coin goes for millions of dollars. One of the coins was auctioned off for $3.7 million and another for $4.14 million. However, there’s only about fifteen of these left in the world.
5. 2005 Speared Bison Jefferson Nickel
This unique coin of a bison appearing to be stabbed is actually worth more than a thousand dollars.
6. 1913 Liberty Head Nickel
The Liberty Head nickel is easily worth a few thousand dollars. It’s actually common for any of us to be holding onto a coin of some sort that has a face on it. It’s best to visit a coin appraiser in this instance because you never know how much ‘face value’ that coin has!
7. 1943 Lincoln Head Copper Penny
This special coin was made out of copper in comparison to the other ’40s pennies that were made out of steel and zinc. These pennies can be worth up to $10,000 but there’s a lot of fakes out there. If you find that you own one of these pennies, as they’re common to find, be sure to take it to an appraiser to see if it’s the real deal.
