The Associated Press revealed Buffett’s recent political donations in January 2021 while fact-checking a viral Facebook post. The post falsely claimed that Buffett donated $58 million to President Joe Biden’s campaign and that Biden canceled the Keystone XL pipeline as a favor.
According to the report, Buffett didn’t make any contributions to Biden’s 2020 presidential campaign. Also, he didn’t make any individual contributions in 2020.
In 2019, Buffett donated $248,500 to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and $5,800 to the senatorial campaign of Mark Kelly (D-Ariz.), according to Federal Election Commission records.
In 2018, Buffett donated $33,900 to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, $33,900 to the Democratic Senate Campaign Committee, $2,700 to the congressional campaign of Democrat Donna Shalala, and $2,700 to the congressional campaign of Democrat Rufus Gifford.
